Adding porphyrins to graphene have managed to improve their characteristics

A team of researchers from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has managed to unite the graphene plates porphyrins, protein rings that are part of chlorophyll and hemoglobin.

These new hybrid structures could be of great use in the field of molecular electronics, where the electronic circuits are constituted by molecular units, in numerous catalytic processes that accelerate numerous chemical reactions and in the development of new gas sensors.

The study was published in the journal Nature Chemistry.
