The area of transgenic crops planted in Europe has increased by 77% in the last year, according to news from the BBC. A certain variety of transgenic maize is the one that has increased the most -- resistant to beetle --. It has grown in a thousand square kilometers. In fact, France has tripled the area of GM maize that is grown in the last year and in Germany and the Czech Republic is also increasing. However, its surface is not very large compared to the total area of cultivation used in Europe.
