Lost Phobos

1989/04/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

At the end of last month, the Soviets lost contact with the space probe Phobos, sent to explore Martitz, when the red planet was orbiting.

The loss has been unfortunate, because Phobos had not yet completed his most important work. However, the data sent has been of great interest. The exact cause of loss of contact is not yet known and several hypotheses have been raised.

We still do not know to what extent the loss of the phobos probe will condition the Soviet plans for the exploration of Mars.
