Oligodendrocytes, a type of brain cell, can cause schizophrenia. A research team at the Babraham Institute in Cambridge analyzes the brains of 15 dead schizophrenics and discovers the lack of oligodendrocytes. This type of cell helps send electrical pulse to nerves.

So far, most experts considered schizophrenia to be caused by some chemical. This discovery can open up a new vision and line of research on schizophrenia.
