Voice mechanisms of sopranos

2005/01/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

The University Clinic of Navarra has carried out a study to know the physiological bases of the voices of sopranos. For this purpose, the sopranos were asked to sing according to some pre-established exercises. The aim of the study was to determine the physiological mechanisms involved in voice emission when sung.

Specifically, the air pressure that passes through the vocal cords has been measured by singing in certain frequencies and intensities. Thus it has been seen that sopranos also use a record above the high notes, until now almost unknown.
