Change the trees to make the world cooler

The North American electric company AES will transform 52 million trees in Guatemala to compensate for carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere of a power plant in its construction.

This is the first practical effort of such a company to copy the greenhouse effect.

The AES will provide the international aid group CARE $2 million to distribute among 40,000 farmers in Guatemala dedicated to reforestation planning. The thermal power plant to build the AES will emit 387,000 tonnes/year of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere for forty years of operation. The trees planted with the help of AES will take carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and accumulate it in their tissues.

Although what was done by the AES is very meritorious, it is not something of the other world. The amount that AES will allocate to tree planting is only 1% of the construction cost of the new thermal power plant
