Wild horses, more than a legend
1995/09/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria
The only wild horses in Britain are the ones you can see alongside them, Billy and Sicaron. They are part of the Equus przewalskii family and since June they live near Hampshire, in the area of protection of the British Army. Thanks to this, these horses will grow as their predecessors lived in ancient times.
Nor is this the sole objective of the research project, since biologists will be able to analyze the relationships of wild horses and the conditions necessary for their reproduction. In fact, without knowledge to ensure the survival of the species, these two horses would be the last wild. Therefore, the biologists of the Marwell Zoo begin to investigate the conditions necessary for wild horses to reproduce.
