XI. The CAF-Elhuyar

XI Scientific Disclosure. The CAF-Elhuyar awards were presented on March 4 at the Txzain Beltxa restaurant in Lasarte-Oria. In this edition 25 works have been presented and the winner has been the Urnietarra biologist Begoña Arrate Larrañaga for the article entitled Gure alde basatiaren barna. Thanks to this reproductive work, he received €1,000 and a memory made by the sculptor Imanol Andonegi.

The second prize went to a trio: For the Donostiarras Jokin Lapaza and Eneko Salaberria and for the Lasartearra Manuel Mendez. The three are biologists licensed at UPV-EHU and presented to the awards an informative article entitled Kakalardoak, the forest informers. This informative article about the information that beetles give us about the state of the forests received 500 € and a memory.

The third prize, endowed with 300 € and a souvenir, was for the UPV chemist Ibon Odriozola. by the article It is an article on the sensations of molecules depending on the chemical content.

Finally, the Special Prize for Youth (300 € and commemoration) was awarded by the engineering student of the University of Navarra Mikel Gorrotxategi for the work “The hole of the ozone layer”.

The jury consisted of:

    Koldo Nuñez: Doctor of Geology and scientific disseminator.
    Pili Calcada: Journalist and scientific disseminator.
    Mikel Álvarez: Doctor and General Director of the Hospital of Basurto.
  • Julián Florez: Doctor in Industrial Engineering, professor at the University of Navarra and manager of the research center VICOMTech.

Koldo Nuñez spoke on behalf of all of them, who highlighted the quality of the work and the need to establish channels for formal teaching of scientific dissemination. The

winning articles can be read in the magazine Elhuyar Zientzia eta Teknika in April.
