A complete prostate from a stem cell
01/12/2008 | Elhuyar

From a single stem cell, in 2006 a vulvar was formed and since then experts have tried to do the same with a prostate. And they have. In the Genentech laboratory a mouse has been extracted from the prostate a stem cell that, inserted in the mouse kidney, has developed another prostate. The research has also had an unexpected result in identifying an unrelated prostate DNA focus, called CD117+. The participation of this space is essential for the development of the prostate. Much progress has been made in the research of organ regeneration, but at the moment the research is very limited, since only a few organs are suitable for the application of this technology.
