Cloning primates closer than ever

A team of American researchers manages to clone the monkeys until the embryonic phase. A novel technique developed in Korea applied to cloned embryos in females has been used to carry out cloning. Although pregnancies have lasted less than a month, they have never been so close to cloning a primate.

Cloning primates is not an easy task. Many researchers have spent years trying to clone monkeys without good results. Previously cloned embryos presented fatal chromosomal errors, so scientists believed it was impossible to clone primates. Now, however, the results obtained have opened a new door to the cloning of primates.
