They have carried out the largest vaccination campaign in India. Thanks to the work of 1.3 million volunteers, 165 million children under five have been vaccinated. For this, in addition to walking around the house, they have approached cricket matches, since in India this sport brings together many people.
India is suffering from the most severe polio epidemic in recent years, 85% of those who became ill worldwide last year.
Although there is no polio in most countries of the world, children from seven Asian and African countries are still affected by polio.
This vaccination campaign is part of a global initiative of the World Health Organization that aims to eliminate polio worldwide by 2005.
