Satellite missions used for Earth observation are costly - usually 39 billion pesetas, 1.5 billion pounds. That is why there are so few such missions and the results obtained, in addition to surprising, are excessively expensive.

Using advanced technologies, the new minisatellites of observation present more reasonable prices and are increasing. The photo was obtained by a satellite of this type. The UoSAT-12 satellite has been developed by the British company Surrey. It weighs 325 Kg and uses CCD sensors to take pictures. It has a large angle camera and three narrow angle cameras.

The large angle camera analyzes a surface of 1000 x 1000 km with a resolution of 10 m. The image shown here has been compressed and blurred in size.

The image city is Beijing, capital of China.
