It is prepared by the International Palaeoentomological Society (IPS) and directed from Alava: Coordinated by the Natural Sciences Museum of Vitoria-Gasteiz and edited by the Diputación Foral de Álava. It will be published once a year in English and the articles will be written by researchers from around the world. The 2007 number is already on the street. The name of Alavesia is due to a genus of insects located in the deposits of amber of Peñacerrada.
