Sunday. Day 25. At nine in the evening. More than one would see that an intense light crossed the sky, until a bright spot came out of that great light, moved faster than him and eventually both disappeared on the horizon.
"Was it an unknown flying object?" the question would be passed to several heads. However, this phenomenon did not confirm the presence of UFOs. The cameras of the Astronomical Observatory of Mallorca recorded the images and gave it a much more mundane explanation.
They explained that the phenomenon was related to the Atlas V-401 rocket launched in California three hours before its observation. This rocket was to put into orbit a weather satellite for the U.S. Armed Forces.
For when he made a second orbit around Earth, the satellite separated from the rocket to take its definitive orbit and the rocket headed toward the so-called “space junk.” This maneuver also released the remaining gases and fuels to the rocket to burn in the atmosphere.
And that's what we saw: it was made up of gases and fuels that were burning a lot of light and the bright spot came out of the great light, the meteorological satellites.
