Most of the blood used in transfusions comes from the veins of the voluntary donors and although Euskal Herria is at the head of the world, calls are frequent to encourage people to donate blood, especially in summer.

In many countries the situation is more serious, so several researchers work on the search for ways to produce artificial blood.

The researcher Chien Lo of Carnegie Mellon University has recently managed to prepare a hemoglobin production system.

However, it indicates that, for the moment, it has produced very small quantities and that it is necessary to fine-tune the system.
