Benoit Mandelbrot, one of the great names in mathematics, died on 14 October in Cambridge at the age of 85. Mandelbrot invented in 1975 the term fractal to designate some geometric structures. And since then his discoveries have been applied in multiple fields, from physics to finance.

In tribute to the contributions of the main exponent of fractal geometry, in 2007 a student from Cornell University created a curious video.
