The environmental organization Greenpeace has recently requested that the use of lindane in Spain and its dispersion in fields and fields of cultivation be prohibited. This organization has denounced the absence of lindane in the new list of pesticides prohibited by the Ministry of Health of Madrid.

This list prohibits all steroisomers of hexachlorocyclohexane, except lindane. Lindane production generates toxic waste and the product itself is very harmful to the nervous system. On the other hand, in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country the Basque Government is developing an expensive plan for cleaning the lands contaminated by lindane.
