Three proteins to protect AIDS

2002/12/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is introduced into the body and until the onset of the disease takes time. But about 2% of those affected do not develop AIDS. And the reason for this has been the objective of many studies. According to the results of researchers at the AIDS Research Center, Aaron Diamond, three proteins are responsible for this: <unk> -defensin-1, -2 and -3. Apparently, these proteins prevent replication of the virus. Although this result opens up new avenues and expectations, other researchers doubt that defenses protect AIDS.
