Inventory of animals in the South Orkney Islands

Biologists from the British Antarctic Survey and the University of Hamburg have jointly carried out an inventory of animals on the South Orkney Islands. On the one hand, the collection of data published in the last hundred years, and on the other, the capture of animals with submarine boats, have elaborated a list of species. 1,200 species have been found, 5 of them unknown. This is the first time they have made such an inventory in an area near the Polo. They say they have chosen the South Orkney Islands because there is more biodiversity than in Galapagos.
