Ceremony of delivery of the Euskadi Awards

The Euskadi Research Awards celebrate its tenth anniversary. And yesterday, at dusk, the two prizes corresponding to the year 2005 were awarded, one corresponding to Humanities and Human Sciences and another to Science and Technology.

The Bergard Mari Carmen Gallastegi was awarded in the field of Humanities. He is Professor of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis at the University of the Basque Country and works, among others, on the environmental economy and on bioeconomic models. In addition, it should be noted that she is the first woman to receive this award.

For his part, José María Asua received the Euskadi Prize for Research in Science and Technology. A specialist in emulsion polymerization, he is a professor at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of the Basque Country and is director, among others, of the Polymat Institute. In fact, he offered the prize to fellow faculty members, both to teachers and students, saying it was a reward for everyone's work.

The prize was presented by the Lehendakari and the event was attended by the Minister of Education, Universities and Research and the Rector of the University of the Basque Country.
