Sun exposure, much more dangerous than expected

The UV index is calculated by measuring the radiation that receives a flat surface. However, the radiation received in a solar or vertical position is not taken into account.
In order to develop a better method, the radiation received by 27 surfaces has been measured at different angles in three places in Germany. With the data collected every three years every two minutes, they have developed a three-dimensional model of the human body. In addition, radiation reflecting surrounding surfaces has been taken into account.
From this model they have seen that the radiation measured by the conventional method is sometimes lower than the real one. However, the greatest risk is in decubitus and with the sun in height, as before.
The research has been published in the journal International Journal of Biometeorology.
