Researchers at the University of Washington have measured the energy that chimpanzees and people use while walking and have shown that people's trajectory is much more effective than chimpanzees, which need four times less energy. In addition, the energy expenditure of chimpanzees is similar to the average of two legs and four legs.

However, one of the chimpanzees needed much less energy than the rest when walking on two legs. There was not so much difference in people. According to the researchers, there were also these differences between the first hominids, it is very likely that natural selection will lean towards those who needed little energy when walking on two legs.
