Angkor, witness of an era

1987/06/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

Angkor Vat, the city which is the church, begins to be restored by a group of Indian archaeologists. Angkor, sanctuary and capital of Khmer, was abandoned in 1431 by the aggression of the Siamese. The city was very forgotten in the XIX. In the nineteenth century the French rediscovered it.

Time, colonization, and the wars of plants and animals have left this artistic miracle in very poor condition. As a consequence of the works that begin, it will proceed to the integral reconstruction of part of the divine palace. The execution period will be six or eight years.
