100,000 tuna marking project

Researchers from the AZTI Foundation work together with researchers from other countries on the marking project of about 100,000 tuna in the Indian Ocean. The objective of the project is to analyze the migrations of tuna, introducing special probes to tuna, authentic small computers.

They study the typical tropical species of Indian Ocean tuna: yellow fin, serrucho and nun. In fact, tropical turnids are the most common currently preserved. The first campaign has lasted a month, but they will spend two or three years going to the sea and marking tuna.
