Water in the sun

1995/10/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

Using the Arizona Observatory's solar telescope, they have discovered water or steam in the Sun while investigating the sunspots.

They find water in the Sun. More specifically, the light spectrum signals that denounce the presence of water. Using the Arizona Observatory solar telescope, water or steam has been detected during sunspot research. The core of the stains is the darkest and coldest side and, in any case, the researchers thought that the water would be present. They were successful at full performance.

Surprisingly, some astronomers had already said long ago that water could be detected in the Sun. The temperature difference between the solar surface and sunspots should be quite high, as in this way the evaporated water on the surface can become liquid at the core of the spots. Now Arizona researchers have announced that the difference in surface temperature and stains is about 100 K.
