Tornado Road

2001/06/27 Elhuyar Zientzia

These photographs of the city of Siren in Wisconsin have been taken by the American satellite Landsat-7. The top photo corresponds to May 18, a region of 75 kilometers in length and 30 in width. The middle and low are from June 19, from the same region, taken the day after a tornado. And the white line that crosses the photos side by side is not a mistake, but a spectacular footprint left by the tornado.

The satellite Landsat-7 turns every 16 days to Earth and crosses the city of Siren casually the day after passing the tornado. The American Institute of Environmental Research has used these spectacular images to measure the damage caused by the tornado.
