At the “Peer Meeting” organized by the Planet STEM, Elhuyar and Bioaraba have participated more than 100 students from Navarre and Álava and 11 researchers, who have used them to exchange ideas. The Minister of Universities, Innovation and Digital Transformation, Patricia Fanlo, Javier Armentia, director of the Planetarium of Pamplona, Danel Solabarrieta Arrizabalaga, responsible for the Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka, Ignacio Garitano Gutierrez, collaborator of the Scientific Direction of Bioaraba, and Marie de la Urguaraba have also been present.

The initiative started at 10 a.m. At each table there has been a scientist and a group of young people. First, the scientist has presented himself and made known to the young people the work he does and, later, the young people have made known to the scientist the project being carried out. Through the exchange of ideas, the scientist has given young people some suggestions and advice, and young people have had the opportunity to learn more about their activity by asking the scientist. Next, scientists have moved from table to table, exchanging ideas at each table. This initiative gives young people first-hand knowledge of the work of researchers and advice on how to develop their projects.

In total, 11 biohealth researchers have been from Bioaraba and Navarrabiomed. The students come from the following secondary schools participating in the ‘Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka’ project: IES Koldo Mitxelena BHI, IES Zabalgana BHI, IES Miguel de Unamuno BHI, Ikastola San Fermín, IES Plaza de la Cruz, IES Colegio de Jesuit

The young participants in today’s initiative will present their projects on 27 April at the ‘Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka – Nafarroa Teknozentzia’ fair. Later, from 22 to 25 May, they will be presented at the Elhuyar Science Fair of Bilbao.

This session was organized, inter alia, through the call for Euroregional Citizenship, FECYT (Ministry of Science and Technology and Science and Innovation), NICDO (Public Society of the Government of Navarra) and the Department of University, Innovation and Digital Transformation of the Foral Government of Navarra.
