Plasma inside the bubble

2005/04/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

A special experiment was conducted at the University of Illinois in the United States. In a container of sulfuric acid, xenon and argon bubbles have been created that have been bombarded by ultrasonic waves. Thus, they have shown that the light emitted by the bubbles when they collapse can be seen at first sight.

The temperature of these collapsed bubbles is about 20,000 kelvin, four times higher than the surface of the Sun. This means that within the bubbles there is plasma. Research is very important as it serves to advance nuclear fusion.
