Researchers at the Louisiana State University have patented a new method of producing oil from biomass as raw material. To obtain a hydrocarbon mixture similar to that of oil, biomass must be treated with hot water under pressure.

According to researchers, the most appropriate sources of biomass can be agricultural waste and food waste. This method protects the environment by not using toxic substances. In addition, it does not require any exploration or drilling, so it does not produce damage to the ecosystem or greenhouse gas emissions.
