It is no longer new to say that Linux was translating. The project, started last year by the Basque Government, had the collaboration of Elhuyar and UZEI throughout the year 2001 for the elaboration of this version in Basque. At first, Linux Mandrake 8.0 was the one that had to translate, but as the translation progressed the versions have been modified, and the translated has finally been 8.2. It is available on the internet for anyone who wants to download it.

In this version, the Gnome desktop is in Basque, and among others, Mozilla 0.9.8 and Evolution 1.0 can be translated into Basque.

Distribution by the Basque Government

Although the distribution of mandrake will normally be in Basque, the Basque Government will edit 2,000 CDs for distribution mainly in schools. In this version, in addition to the Basque version of Mandrake, there will be manuals on how to use it.
