The gearbox poster that will be placed on the Passat B5 will weigh 34% less than usual.
A system to prevent pollution in cars is low fuel consumption. However, for low consumption, the car must be light and for this it is appropriate to use magnesium, which only has a density of 1.8 g/cm3.
Volkswagen has started manufacturing the gearbox crankcase for the Passat B5 model with magnesium (and not aluminum), since its weight is 34% lower.
