Recently, an operating room with the latest technological and computer advances was inaugurated at the Virgen del Camino Hospital in Pamplona. With a cost close to 30 million euros, it is the second of its kind in Europe.

The new room is located in the pregnancy area and will be used for laparoscopy which is mainly used in gynecological problems. It will also be used for other general surgery operations such as hernias, intestinal resections, gallbladder, etc.

Laparoscopy is an endoscopic study of the abdominal cavity. To do this, a small incision introduces an instrument called a laparoscope and a camera to guide the doctor's movements. The main contribution of this operating room is the good quality of the images needed for a thorough study.

In addition, the new operating room is expected to improve the performance of physicians by storing in memory the positions of all lamps and instruments. Thus, the exact position of the instruments will not waste time and the interventions will be shorter. On the other hand, the central computer that controls the connections of all imaging devices treats all data graphically and textually. These data appear on two system management screens.

Another of the main novelties of this room is the possibility of recording the studio in video or having direct contact with experts from the world.
