Every month, many women have migraine with the rule. It was known that before starting menstruation estrogen levels drop sharply and this is related to migraine. What is the relationship between estrogen and migraine?
To respond to this, researchers at the Kansas University Medical Center (USA) have worked with mice and analyzed the expression of 1,176 genes related to inflammation, blood circulation and intercellular communication. Thus they have seen that the decrease in estrogen levels prevents the brain of mice from indicating neuropeptide Y. Normally, neuropeptide Y is abundant in the trigemino ganglion where migraine pain is located, and is also found in the hypothalamus. On the other hand, the hypothalamus controls some migraine factors, such as hunger and thirst.
Apparently, when the neuropeptide Y is reduced, women do not take enough food or liquid, which causes the onset of migraine along with other agents, of course. Undoubtedly, the results of the study will serve to find an effective therapy for people suffering from migraine throughout the month. For example, it may consist of increasing the level of neuropeptide AND or taking medications that mimic your activity.
