Observing the trapped electrons
Observing the trapped electrons

It is not easy, but today it is possible to catch and study a single electron in an atomic box. For this purpose, the atomic force microscope will be used. However, the study is very complex, since this special microscope requires the sample to be part of an electrical circuit and is very difficult to achieve in atomic sized structures. Now, some Canadian physicists have developed an unnecessary technique that has been called an electrostatic force microscope. There you only need the trapped electron to be able to analyze it.
