The secret of the nautilus in the detection of dams

Nautilus has a pair of special organs under his eyes to smell his prey. Roger Hanlon and members of the Woods Hole Marine Biology Laboratory demonstrated that they had organs called "rhinopore" to follow the prey's footsteps. When researchers blocked rhinopores, animals had difficulty finding prey. When both organs were free, they were able to detect prey at more than 10 meters (The Journal of Experimental Biology, vol. 203 1.409. Page. ). According to the researchers, 400 million years ago the Ammonites dominated the sea and the belemnites used the same technique.
