Elhuyar has launched the project “2022-2023 Gluons Table, to inspire young people in the future”, with the aim of working responsible and active attitudes towards sustainability and the environmental emergency of young people, to influence future opportunities and offer young people opportunities to get quality jobs in the future.

Through the project, a forum for the shared reflection of “experts” has been created to promote the STEM and “green” skills of young people. The contents derived from the reflection and the elaboration of various works will lead to the creation and socialization of resources, methodologies and useful tools for the teachers of the educational system. In addition, the Elhuyar Science Unit will work on the criteria, keys and approaches to be taken into account in communication and environmental sustainability and emergency projects and will be collected in a decalogue.

In parallel with this, a group of young people participate in a pilot project based on real research. Young people, ESO students from the IES Aralar de Alegia center and with the collaboration of Iker Aranjuelo Mitxelena, researcher at the Agrobiology Institute of the CSIC of Navarra, are conducting an air quality study at different points of Tolosaldea through biomonitoring, using plants. During the process, young people will conduct experiments, sampling, visits and presentations (at science fairs).

Background to the project

The project “2022-2023 Gluones Table, to inspire young people to the future” is a continuation of the project started in 2019, which continues with the same objective of influencing the technological positioning of young people. The results obtained in the different phases of the project are included in a detailed information collection and with the content generated in this project the creation of a new brochure of the collection is foreseen.

The agents involved in the “Gluon Table” projects have been called “gluon”, inspired by the similarity with the effect of the gluons’ glue that bind the quarkas into the atoms, hence the name of the project.

This project, promoted by Elhuyar, has the collaboration of the Department of Economic Promotion, Tourism and Rural Environment of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.
