Brain eye brain eye

2001/01/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

The so-called "brain eye" allows us to see something (an image, a landscape, someone's face...) without being present. Many times, in addition, these images seem very real to us, even if the eyes are closed. But how does this happen? The researchers have measured the activity of 276 neurons by microelectrodes. They are neurons related to memory and social behavior. They have observed that the neurons that acted in the visualization of images and in the order to evoke them were the same. The intensity of the activity is also similar.
