A researcher at the University of Washington warns that floods in the Mississippi River environment are becoming increasingly severe. In the floods of 1903 and 1993, for example, the river flow was similar, but ultimately the river level rose considerably.

In fact, in the north of the city of St Louis numerous locks, dams, canals and embankments were built to protect the city from flooding, to which the researcher blames. So many engineering works have raised the water level. It has also analyzed the Missouri, Ohio and Meramec rivers, obtaining similar results. It therefore proposes a review of the measures taken to prevent flooding.
