His grandfather Erasmus Darwin had a great influence on the thinking and works of Charles Darwin. Erasmus Darwin was a physicist, poet, inventor and intellectual who always believed in evolution. His grandson Charles wrote a book about him, published in 1879. The book was not published in its entirety.

Henrietta Charles's daughter apparently found it too heavy and long, while references to the church and society of the time were too harsh. Therefore, it eliminated 16% of the writing and adapted several passages. Now the publisher of the University of Cambridge has decided to publish it in its entirety. In addition, this year marks the 200th anniversary of the death of Erasmus Darwin.
