The endophytes win in the photo contest Fotciencia

This image has been the winner of the photo contest Fotciencia 2009 in the category of general photography organized by FECYT and CSIC. The author of the photo is María Salud Sánchez Marquez and the title of the photo is Endofitos.

Endophyte fungi are able to infect tissues, but the plant does not perceive any symptoms. In the image you can see some of these fungi of the Dactylis glomerata grass, very common in many areas of Spain.

The aim of the competition is to socialize science and technology through scientific photographs. This has been the seventh edition and all photos are available on the web.
