"El Niño", a natural phenomenon that changed the Peruvian climate, diverted marine currents and changed marine temperatures. Started in the winter 1982/83, it has not finished.
The levas that have been given in Peru have destroyed crops, but have managed to create vegetation in the adjacent desert. Some territories have been covered with flowers for the first time in 50 years. The cooling of the ocean has distanced the sardines and anchovies of great importance in the Peruvian economy, but have replaced other species such as the bonito del norte or the bluefin tuna.
