New storm and cyclone prediction technique

The Australian Center for Meteorological Studies, thanks to a new technique, can predict storms and cyclones two or three weeks earlier. Scientist Matt Wheeler and his team have launched this new satellite technique to understand climate evolution around the world.

According to these scientists, the flooding that occurred in February in Jakarta (Indonesia) caused a major disaster, could be predicted three weeks earlier with its new system. In fact, the flooding of the Indonesian capital was due to huge winds and huge clouds, and satellite data a month earlier clearly showed that this was going to happen.

This new technique allows predicting what will happen in weather two weeks before the current conventional weather forecasts. In addition, this new technique will also serve to reduce the influence of storms and cyclones. For example, important efforts will be made to protect forests, coasts and large cities.

This system of prediction of atmospheric phenomena will be analyzed by scientists at the roundtables on meteorology to be held this week in Bali.
