Last May, the BTEK project was presented. BTEK will be the first Technology Interpretation Centre in Euskadi and will open its doors in the Bizkaia Technology Park in the last quarter of 2008.

The aim of BTEK is to foster technological and innovative culture among youth. A state-of-the-art building is being built, which will house, in addition to a permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions and school workshops.

The permanent exhibition will focus on technology currently consolidated in three areas: Internet, home and transport. As for the Internet space, visitors will have the opportunity to know electronic systems, digital technology, network operation, GPS, etc. Topics such as energy saving, intelligent environment, sustainability, biosciences, solar energy and hydrogen as a source of energy will be addressed at home. Finally, in the transport area, topics such as aerodynamics, electronics, materials and mechanics will be worked.

The founders of this project are the Technology Park of Bizkaia, the Elhuyar Foundation and the Basque Country's Ikastolas Confederation and the Basque Country University and the technology corporations Tecnalia and IK4. In addition, to carry out the project, they have the support of the following entities: Departments of Education and Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Basque Government, Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Ministry of Education and Science of Spain.
