National Research Award 2007 for Enrike Zuazua

In spring, mathematician Enrike Zuazua received the Euskadi Prize for Research in Science and Technology 2006. They have now announced the delivery of one of the National Research Awards, awarded by the Ministry of Science and Education. Specifically, the Ministry awards five awards annually to the best researchers of the year in different fields of science, and this year Enrike Zuazua has been the winner of Mathematics and Information and Communication Technologies.
The prize, called Julio Rey Pastor, has been awarded to Enrique Zuazua for his work in partial derivations and control theory. According to the award, "the prize highlights the enormous capacity of mathematics and new computing methods to understand the functioning of the world and improve the quality of life.
The other winners of the National Research Awards are: Ignacio Cirac in the area of Physics, Materials and Earth Sciences, Carlos Duarte in the area of Science and Technology of Natural Resources, Luis Oro in the area of Science and Chemical Technology and Daniel Ramón in the area of Technology Transfer.
