Ring of black holes

In the upper image you can see the ring of black holes originated by the clash of two galaxies. Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have completed the image of the data collected by the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X Ray Observatory.

The collision between a spiral galaxy (on the right you can see its remains) and an elliptical galaxy (on the left) gave rise to a gigantic stellar string wave, in the form of a ring. Some of the massive stars generated in this blue ring, exploding as supernovae, formed several black (pink) holes.
