A terrible earthquake struck Alaska in 2002, surface waves covered three thousand kilometers and in a few hours reached Yellowstone National Park. There the earth vibrated and changed the frequency of the geysers.

The earthquake seems to have altered the Yellowstone hydrothermal system. The steam eruptions in the springs that observers never saw geyser increased the frequency of many geisser.

Due to the advance of the earthquake through underground fluids, researchers have highlighted that the means in which geysers are found are appropriate places to investigate the relationship between the earthquake and fluids.
