Using the NASA Chandra telescope, they detect a pulsar in the middle of a supernova that occurred 1,600 years ago. The discovery has not been fully assured, but all the tracks are favorable to the yes. The supernova observed is G292.0+1.8 and is located in the constellation of the Centaur. This supernova is found in the Milky Way galaxy and is rich in oxygen. This is the first time astronomers have been able to closely investigate such a supernova.
