Around the Earth, 230 km high, the rotating Atlantis satellite took a picture of the area surrounding the equator in the Pacific Ocean.

There is a line that separates two zones. This line indicates the union between cold waters (very rich in nutrients) and hot waters from polar seas.

Thanks to this union life extends all over the ocean. In this expansion predominate diatoms, which give the sea a dark green color.

Surface observations date back to recent years, but the funds of these places have long been the subject of study, since the analysis of diatomaceous residues present allows to determine the most important aquatic groupings that have occurred throughout the history of the world.
