Although confirmed this month, we can say that Jupiter has a new moon. The Moon was first seen last year, but astronomers considered it an asteroid. However, new studies conclude that the object is the satellite of Jupiter. The satellite has a diameter of 4.8 km, is the smallest of the moons of Jupiter and has not yet been given the definitive name. The Moon forms a two-year orbit 24 million km from Jupiter. Jupiter's 16th satellite, Leda, was discovered in 1974.
