For monetary reasons, last year NASA plans had to be reviewed. The cost of two missing probes on Mars is related to the decisions made then. In order to continue investigating this planet, it was necessary to renounce the mission of sending a probe to Pluto. But some scientists disagreed with this decision.

Now NASA has proposed a new solution. On the one hand, he has selected two pre-projects from the Pluto mission that could be launched in 2004. On the other hand, NASA will ask Congress for money. But as taxes have dropped, this year the amount of money destined for such projects has been reduced. In addition, the agency will not ask the government to change its priorities. However, if the money is accepted, NASA will choose one of two projects to prepare Pluto's mission.
